A Portfolio ft. Hannah
Hello,
My name is Hannah and I'm entering my third year as a student at the University of Cincinnati majoring in Psychology and and minoring in Marketing. Welcome to my site featuring me and my experiences.
I'm a born and raised Cincinnati native and that's something that's slowly become a bigger part of my identity as I've grown up. Besides being a Cincinnati girl I grew up playing the piano, talking and debating a lot, writing, pursuing photography, and trying out any new restaurant I can.
I've taken piano lessons at CCM since I was around five or six and I love it, even if finding the time to practice is a pain sometimes. I've stopped because of my college schedule but I hope to keep incorporating it in my life somehow soon. I love talking and getting to know people but I'm also a bit stubborn and I can get passionate about some topics very quickly. Finding someone that's willing to debate and discuss topics with me is always great. My outlet for that in high school was by doing mock trial which is exactly what it sounds like - a club where we pretended to be lawyers and witnesses and conducted a "mock trial". I did it all four years of high school and became captain my junior year. I've been competing with UC's Mock Trial team since Spring 2015 and we've competed at the national competition for two years in a row now.
As I mentioned, I grew up in Cincinnati but it wasn't till my senior year of high school that I learned to truly appreciate what this city has to offer. I did a photography project that allowed me to meet many different people and see the diversity that we have and also the vibrancy and life that is in the Queen City. I have a newfound pride for this city and I love showing off everything it has to offer to anyone that'll listen.
I want to continue doing things I'm passionate about such as engaging in leadership and I want to find new things to be passionate about, such as exploring research and traveling the world. I've been able to do that during my time at UC by taking classes that traveled to France, Belgium, and the Netherlands. I've also been able to take opportunities in college to learn more about social justice and try to take an active role in creating change by participating in the Racial Awareness Program (RAPP), student government campaigns, and the Student Diversity and Inclusion Council (SDIC).
UHP has also become a huge part of my identity and experience at UC. It's provided me with amazing opportunities and great community of peers and friends. It started with my experience at the UHP Retreat and I've continued to try to pave that forward by returning as a leader both last summer and this summer. I can't wait to get to know the new group of incoming freshman and to see what kind of experiences my third year is going to bring!
